What sort of people attend these courses?
All types and all ages. Our courses are small and friendly, and are suitable for people from all walks of life. Some students will be existing therapists, looking to add new skills to their range, and some will be just doing the course for their own pleasure, and maybe to work on family and friends.
What do I need to wear?
If you have a therapists uniform you could wear this, but if not just wear something comfortable with sensible shoes and minimal jewellery, with long hair tied up.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
No nothing at all. You will be provided with a manual which you will take home with you. You can make notes in this. We have plenty of pens and paper and tea, coffee etc will be provided. We have a kitchen, fridge and microwave if you want to bring a packed lunch.
Will I be able to get a job with my new qualifications?
When you successfully complete your chosen course you will be awarded the SSBT diploma. With this you can
join one of the professional associations and obtain insurance. This is sufficient for many salons or if
you wish to work for yourself.
Why are the courses so much shorter than at a state college?
Our students are extremely motivated and keen to learn and we only have a maximum of six students on a course. In a college you would spend a major part of each day on theory, whereas we spend most of the day concentrating on practical training, with a lot of the theory covered by home study, with the use of our manuals and recommended books.
Are there any hidden costs, i.e. kits to buy?
We provide all the products you will need on the day to practice with
and are able to give you help and advice on different suppliers available.
We do have kits available to purchase for some of our courses. See kits page for details.
Are the course lecturers properly qualified?
Yes, they hold professional and teaching qualifications.
They also have years of experience working in commercial salons, teaching in colleges and running their own successful businesses.
What if I feel I need extra tuition before I am confident with my new skills?
If for any reason you are not completely happy with everything, we will
arrange for you to attend the course again free of charge!
We also have practice days available for a small charge, if you feel some months down the line that you need to come in and fine tune your skills.
Do I need to bring a model, or do we work on each other?
You will work on fellow students as we feel it is beneficial for you to also receive the treatment; this gives you more empathy with your clients. If, however you are unable to receive a treatment for any reason, please telephone the office to discuss model arrangements.
I want to do several courses at once, is there somewhere local I can stay?
Yes, accommodation is available nearby. Please contact us for details.
What arrangements do you have for somebody with special needs?
Please telephone us to discuss your individual requirements. We can, for example, arrange for written tests to be answered orally
if you have reading/writing difficulties, and if English is not your first language you may bring an interpreter with you.
Whatever your needs we will do our very best to accommodate them.
